Welcome to Hachiko Imports

We’re an importer based in New York City that focuses on boutique French wines. Our goal as a direct importer is to bring quality, well-priced wines -- each brimming with the expressiveness of the producer -- to share with the greater New York area and beyond.
The company was founded by Luisa Richardson with the concept of bringing the everyday taste of France to restaurants and retailers in the Northeast. Luisa started her life’s journey in Guatemala, then lived in the South of France for many years before moving to New York City. Her passion for wine and eclectic cuisine blossomed as she navigated the restaurant industry, eventually leading to the creation of this business.
Luisa had the opportunity to visit several small wine producers in the Luberon region while visiting family in Vaucluse, France. She felt that these locally grown and produced wines weren’t properly represented in New York City. This inspired her to bring Hachiko Imports’ first rose to the Northeast. She really wanted to share this “wine for the people” and offer the experience as it's enjoyed in France.
Hachiko Imports will continue to bring fine wines into the U.S. made by families that wish to sustain the land and culture. Their desire is for people across the United States to experience quality and enjoyment one glass at a time!

Behind the Hachiko Imports brand

The Japanese story of Hachiko the dog was one of loyalty and determination. Hachiko Imports started as a small importing business and we've adhered to these principles in order to achieve the goal of sharing new wine experiences with others.
The Hachiko Imports logo was hand drawn by artist and textile designer Satoko Kosugi for our company. The goal was to create an endearing, determined and memorable rendering of the historical canine.
